English course review and self-evaluation
Today I was thinking about my experience studying English at this university.
I would say that it has been pretty exciting, not only because I learned things that are going to be useful in grammar, but also because I had the opportunity to speak and engage in almost real conversations of daily life.
I think that the in-person lessons were more effective and helpful than online classes, mainly because I had the opportunity to do pair conversations and ask questions while doing the activities. In online classes I think that was more difficult because we often had problems with internet or noise issues, and we couldn´t engage as well as in-person classes.
In regards to writing blogs, I think that there are useful tools to exercise the class content, but I would like to see other types of exams, specially essays or these types of things where you can express yourself more freely and without a word count so bounded. The other thing that I would like to see, especially in blogs, is the option to see if your blog is written properly or not, if you have grammar or spelling issues. And have feedback for the next class/week/month.
Outside of English classes I use my English to read papers or to understand youtube videos, tik tok videos, instagram, or any kind of entertainment type of thing. I usually don't speak English, which I think is a big disadvantage compared to what I can really understand in written language. And I think that's what I can improve, the spoken English is my downside as a second language learner. But I pretend to keep speaking and repeating phrases until I get my pronunciation the way I like it.
