Changes to my study programme
Today I was thinking about changing my study programme.
I am currently studying anthropology at the University of Chile. This programme has five curricular subjects and two elective subjects. That means that I have to study 7 different subjects in one week. Those are English, writing and reading in social studies, contemporary problems in anthropology: globalization, fundamental problems in anthropology three, archive and ethnography, complex societies and statistics. i wouldn't change it because It´s very reasonable to have these types of subjects at this level
The workload is diverse within different subjects, there is a lot of text that we have to read and often we run out of time. The subjects that are more dense in this semester are statistics, archive and ethnography and complex societies. To graduate from this major we have to study 5 years and read a lot, usually the first two years, then we have to read specific subjects and do a lot of workfield.I would change the workload in this degree, I would make it more even between the assignments that are more crucial to the academic development.
This degree is imparted in FACSO (Facultad de Ciencias Sociales), the second floor of the building is the department of anthropology. The building has seven floors, and you can find cafeterias, libraries, offices, study group sites, auditoriums, and the biggest archeological collection in Chile. However this last one is not available to the general public. I would change the accessibility to the different types of resources that they offer, for example, I would love to expand the access to computers and wifi inside the faculty. Also I would like to have more spaces for study groups and a good heating system, especially in winter.
Although there are many things that I would change, I love to study in this university.
